IBC' 4th annual Technology Transfer for Biopharmaceuticals conference was a featured conference a Biopharmaceutical Development & Production Week which took place on March 2-6, 2009 and welcomed 668 attendees to Carlsbad, CA including representatives from 18 of the top 20 pharmaceutical companies.

Technology Transfer for Biopharmaceuticals was a two-day conference which took place on March 2-3, 2009 giving attendees the option of attending Technology Transfer then staying in Carlsbad to attend the Antibody Development & Production conference on March 4-6, for a special 5 day conference pass.

At this conference, scientists, engineers and project leaders involved in process development, manufacturing and outsourcing gathered to strategize on how to overcome the complexities and avoid the potential pitfalls of method and process transfers.

The conference gave attendees in-depth coverage of critical issues including; project management, business strategies, process development and facility fit.

Program highlights included:

  • Keynote Address: Failed Tech Transfers: Learning our Lessons the Hard Way
    by E. Morrey Atkinson, Ph.D. from Eli Lilly and Company.
  • Featured Presentation: Application of Quality by Design Principles during Process Technology Transfer by Enda Moran, Ph.D, from Wyteh Biotech, Ireland.
  • 14 Case Studies on all phases of the transfer process that provided the most recent unpublished data and lessons learned to ensure the success of you transfers.
  • Joint presentations from both donor and recipient sites examined industry best practices to improve efficiency and accuracy with streamlined approaches to reduce resources.
  • Dealing with CMO': Discussed the benefits and potential pitfalls in dealing with CMO' from the clients perspective.
  • The Life Cycle of Project Management: Lean best practices form the client and CMO perspectives that you can immediately apply to help manage your client' expectations and ensure your project team delivers.

Plus, the conference was conveniently co-located with Outsourcing Manufacturing of Biopharmaceuticals and Process Validation for Biopharmaceuticals giving attendees access to these additional conferences and networking in the shared exhibit hall which featured over 33 booths.
