IBC's Process Validation for Biologicals Event was held March 10-11, 2008 and ran concurrently with IBC's Outsourcing and Technology Transfer conferences at the beautiful Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina in San Diego, CA . The event brought together numerous process validation industry leading scientists, executives and quality assurance/regulatory experts and provided two full days of unique presentations, interactive panel discussions, conference track hopping and unprecedented networking opportunities. Attendees were presented with various case studies offering real world examples of process validation activities implemented by industry leaders and were able to analyze the latest industry trends including the influx in risk assessment and reduction.
Highlights of the event included a thought provoking plenary panel discussion moderated by Dr. Wolfgang Berthold of Biogen Idec evaluating the risk factors in Biopharmaceutical Company downsizing/changes and their impact on process validation. Attendees also learned about the potential implications of next generation products and follow-on biologics and how their process validation activities could be impacted. Dr. Tony Mire-Sluis captivated the audience with his keynote presentation addressing current process validation trends. He helped to finally answer the question, "what's the risk?" and empowered attendees to continually raise the bar and challenge themselves to consistently produce top quality process validation.
The exhibit hall was open for both days of the event and networking abounded as evidenced by the bustle in every aisle during the refreshment breaks, luncheons and cocktail reception.
