IBC's Outsourcing Manufacturing of Biopharmaceuticals Event was held March 10-11, 2008 and ran concurrently with IBC's Technology Transfer and Process Validation conferences at the beautiful Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina in San Diego, CA. The event brought together numerous biopharmaceutical outsourcing industry leading scientists, executives and quality assurance/regulatory experts and provided two full days of unique presentations, interactive panel discussions, conference track hopping and unprecedented networking opportunities. Attendees were presented with various case studies offering real world examples of outsourcing experiences and were able to analyze the latest industry trends including the influx in global outsourcing.
Highlights of the event included a well received presentation by Dr. Patrick Bastek of Dendreon Corp. discussing the most effective tactics used to leverage CMO's to achieve successful product development and a highly anticipated panel discussion evaluating the quality oversight at CMO's dozens of attendees in the session to take an interactive role in the discussion. In his keynote presented Dr. Rolf G. Werner of Boehringer-Ingelheim, GmbH, Germany described in elegant detail the various strategies implemented and challenges faced by Boehringer-Ingelheim while consistently maintaining their role as an industry leader and innovator. Dr. Werner provided a unique perspective that spoke in harmony with the goal of the conference; maximizing established and emerging outsourcing opportunities.
The exhibit hall was open for both days of the event and networking abounded as evidenced by the bustle in every aisle during the refreshment breaks, luncheons and cocktail reception.
